About

Collegiate skating gives skaters the opportunity to continue their skating career while attending college. As an intercollegiate figure skating team, we compete in the Pacific region against other university teams. We attend three competitions a year. Within the competitions, there are many disciplines offered such as freestyle, ice dance, team maneuvers, and synchro. The principles of our team are being positive, showing good sportsmanship, and encouraging fellow teammates while enjoying the competitive part of figure skating.

OUR TRAINING METHODS

On Ice
Team practice takes place every Monday from 6:50-7:50 am at the Mountain America Community Iceplex in Tempe and Friday from 12:00-1:00 at Ice Den Chandler. Our Head Coach, Karen Gesell, runs team practice. Guest coaches come in and work on different specialties (jumps, spins, edges, ice dance, choreography, etc.)
Competition
As a US Figure Skating Intercollegiate Team we participate in all three Pacific Region competitions.
These competitions take place at different colleges within the Pacific region.

Team Events
The VP of Social Events organizes various social events for the team throughout the year. These are so fun, they bring out the team spirit, and incorporate team bonding. These events include; performances for the ASU Hockey Team, tryouts, fundraisers (VP of Fundraising), dinners, holiday parties, volunteering, etc.
OUR BEGINNING
In 2019, Kiki Owens founded the Figure Skating Team at ASU. The founding board members included Ashley Osborne and Jaqueline Benson. Coach Karen Gesell was the first team coach and is still the team's current head coach. Ice Den Chandler became the team's home rink, but we have since expanded to Tempe.
